Funny that....I also have a niece named Kenzie..... who at the age of 12 took it upon herself to create an FB account. My sis only found out by accident when she went to log in to her own FB account and it went to her daughters.
Now...my sis has always told her daughter that at 13 she could open an FB account with a few caveats. That K went and did it without permission and had actually blocked her mom and myself....well...let's just say that didn't go over well.
My darling niece had to close the account, and her mom changed the password so she couldn't reopen it. She was banned from the computer for 2 weeks as well.
Now that she is old enough, she has an account, and has learned a valuable lesson about trust.
I'm all for spoiling my nieces and nephew, but the bottom line is that I am not her parent. I will discuss with my sisters when I think that maybe they are being too hard nosed, but I ultimately, I must respect their rules.
That being said, I am honoured that my nieces and nephew confide in me and ask for assistance. Sometimes I take their side, but not always. What it comes down to is that I would do pretty much anything for them as long as it kept them safe. Opening up an account against the wishes of the parent is not keeping them safe. So no matter how much they begged, cried and whined. I support the parents decision.
